Optic Disc
The optic disc, the point where the optic nerve exits the eye, is a crucial area for diagnosing various ophthalmological conditions, particularly glaucoma. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy and efficiency of optic disc and cup segmentation from fundus images using deep learning models, such as U-Net variants and Vision Transformers, often incorporating edge information and multi-task learning approaches to enhance performance. These advancements aim to automate glaucoma screening and diagnosis, improving the speed and accuracy of detection, ultimately leading to earlier intervention and better patient outcomes.
