Optical Aberration
Optical aberrations, imperfections in imaging systems that distort light, are a significant challenge across diverse fields, from microscopy to space-based imaging and mobile photography. Current research focuses on computational methods to correct these aberrations, employing techniques like deep learning (convolutional neural networks, diffusion models) and novel algorithms for predicting and compensating for various aberration types (e.g., Zernike coefficients, chromatic and spherical aberrations). These advancements aim to improve image quality and enable more accurate measurements in various applications, impacting fields ranging from biomedical imaging and autonomous navigation to consumer electronics.
