Oracle Bone
Oracle bone inscriptions, the earliest known form of Chinese writing, present a significant challenge for decipherment due to their age and variations in style. Current research focuses on applying machine learning techniques, including deep learning models like Siamese networks, Transformers, and diffusion models, to improve character recognition and retrieval, often leveraging newly created multi-modal datasets with diverse annotations. These efforts aim to accelerate the analysis of these ancient texts, contributing to our understanding of early Chinese history and language evolution, and potentially unlocking new insights into the development of writing systems.
