Packet Loss

Packet loss, the interruption of data transmission, significantly impacts the performance of various systems, from real-time communication to distributed computing. Current research focuses on developing robust methods for mitigating its effects, employing techniques like neural network-based concealment (often using sequence-to-sequence or seq2one architectures) and forward error correction (FEC) with adaptive redundancy. These advancements aim to improve the quality of experience in applications such as video conferencing and automatic speech recognition, while also enhancing the reliability of distributed optimization algorithms operating over unreliable networks.
