Pain Dataset
Pain datasets are crucial for developing automated pain assessment systems, addressing the limitations of subjective self-reporting and improving pain management. Current research focuses on leveraging deep learning, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and transformer models, to analyze facial expressions and physiological signals (e.g., from video and other sensors) for objective pain intensity estimation and classification. These efforts are driven by the need for more accurate and reliable pain assessment, especially in populations with communication difficulties or altered facial expressions, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care and treatment. The development of larger, more diverse datasets, including those focusing on specific patient populations like those with cerebral palsy or cancer, is a key area of ongoing work.
