Panoramic Segmentation
Panoramic segmentation aims to accurately label the objects and regions within 360° images, a challenging task due to image distortions and the scarcity of annotated data. Current research focuses on developing robust model architectures, often based on transformers, that address these challenges through techniques like deformable attention mechanisms and domain adaptation strategies to leverage data from other image types (e.g., pinhole images). These advancements are crucial for improving scene understanding in applications such as autonomous driving, virtual reality, and medical image analysis, where comprehensive spatial awareness is essential.
