Paratransit Service
Paratransit services, designed to meet the transportation needs of individuals with limited mobility, face challenges of high operational costs and long trip times. Current research focuses on optimizing routing and scheduling using advanced techniques like graph convolutional neural networks and novel formulations of the vehicle routing problem that incorporate both pre-booked and real-time requests, often employing anytime algorithms and Monte Carlo tree search. These improvements aim to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction, impacting both the operational effectiveness of paratransit systems and the development of more robust algorithms for dynamic routing problems.
