Parking Slot Detection

Parking slot detection aims to automatically identify available parking spaces using computer vision and sensor data, improving traffic flow and urban parking management. Current research focuses on developing robust algorithms, often employing convolutional neural networks (CNNs) like ResNet and YOLO, to detect and classify parking spaces from various camera perspectives (including fisheye) and under diverse conditions, even with low-resolution images. These advancements leverage techniques like automatic parking spot localization and occupancy classification, reducing reliance on manual labeling and improving accuracy. The resulting systems offer significant potential for smart city initiatives and autonomous driving applications by providing real-time parking information and assisting automated valet parking.
