Perspective Image
Perspective image processing, traditionally focused on rectilinear projections, is expanding to encompass non-perspective imagery like fisheye and 360° panoramas. Current research emphasizes adapting existing convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to these distorted views, employing techniques such as rectified convolutions and Möbius transformations to handle spherical distortions and improve performance on tasks like depth estimation and semantic segmentation. This broadening of scope is crucial for advancing applications in robotics, virtual reality, and autonomous systems that rely on comprehensive scene understanding from diverse camera geometries.
