Photonic Surface
Photonic surfaces, engineered structures with precisely controlled optical properties, are being actively researched for applications like energy harvesting and laser technology. Current research focuses on inverse design—determining the fabrication parameters needed to achieve desired optical characteristics—using machine learning techniques, including surrogate-based optimization, multi-fidelity ensembles, and transformer-based sequential models. These advanced computational methods aim to accelerate the design process, improve efficiency, and enable the creation of novel photonic devices with enhanced performance, particularly in energy-related applications.
