PI Rad

PI-RADS (Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System) is a standardized system for reporting and interpreting prostate MRI scans to detect prostate cancer. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy and efficiency of PI-RADS scoring using deep learning models, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and multi-modal large language models (MLLMs), often incorporating clinical guidelines and addressing class imbalance issues through techniques like adaptive loss functions. These advancements aim to automate and improve the diagnostic process, leading to more consistent and accurate detection of clinically significant prostate cancer, potentially reducing unnecessary biopsies and improving patient care. Furthermore, research is exploring the extraction of radiomic biomarkers from challenging cases to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
