Planar Marker
Planar markers are artificial visual features used in various applications to enhance computer vision tasks, particularly in scenarios with limited texture or challenging lighting conditions. Current research focuses on improving marker design for robustness and efficiency, developing algorithms for accurate marker detection and localization (often incorporating Structure from Motion and bundle adjustment techniques), and integrating markers into diverse systems, including robotic manipulation, augmented reality, and medical image analysis. This work is significant because it addresses limitations in traditional computer vision methods, enabling more reliable and efficient solutions for tasks ranging from 3D scene reconstruction to medical diagnosis and human-computer interaction.
