Political Deliberation
Political deliberation, the process of reasoned discussion and decision-making, is being actively researched to improve online and offline dialogue, particularly concerning divisive topics and AI-assisted decision-making. Current research focuses on developing computational models, often leveraging large language models (LLMs) and novel algorithms like contrastive learning, to enhance the quality and efficiency of deliberation, including reframing disagreements and promoting receptiveness. These advancements aim to mitigate online toxicity, improve human-AI collaboration in complex tasks, and ultimately foster more constructive and inclusive decision-making processes across various domains, from public policy to healthcare.
