Portrait Editing
Portrait editing research focuses on developing methods for realistically and efficiently manipulating portrait images and videos, aiming for high-quality results with fine-grained control. Current efforts concentrate on 3D-aware approaches, leveraging techniques like diffusion models, Gaussian splatting, and neural radiance fields (NeRFs) to achieve consistent edits across different viewpoints and maintain photorealism. These advancements enable sophisticated manipulations such as adding accessories, modifying lighting and shadows, altering expressions, and even generating entire portraits from text prompts, with applications ranging from virtual avatars to photo retouching and AR/VR technologies. The field is actively exploring efficient architectures and training strategies to improve speed and controllability while preserving image fidelity.
