Power System Reliability

Power system reliability research focuses on ensuring the continuous and stable supply of electricity, addressing challenges posed by aging infrastructure, increasing renewable energy integration, and extreme weather events. Current efforts leverage machine learning, particularly graph neural networks and artificial neural networks, to improve fault detection and location, optimize grid reconfiguration, and predict reliability indices like Loss of Load Probability (LOLP), often incorporating physics-informed models to enhance accuracy and efficiency. These advancements are crucial for enhancing grid resilience, enabling efficient integration of distributed energy resources, and improving the safety and economic viability of electricity grids.
