Precision Landing
Precision landing, encompassing the controlled descent and placement of aerial vehicles (drones, rockets, etc.) onto designated targets, aims to improve safety, efficiency, and autonomy in various applications. Current research heavily utilizes reinforcement learning (RL), particularly deep RL architectures, and model predictive control (MPC) algorithms to optimize landing trajectories and handle uncertainties like wind and moving platforms; other approaches leverage visual and infrared fiducial markers for precise localization. These advancements are crucial for enhancing autonomous operations in diverse fields, including space exploration, drone delivery, and search and rescue missions.
