Primary Health Care
Primary health care (PHC) research focuses on improving access, quality, and efficiency of healthcare services at the initial point of contact. Current research emphasizes leveraging data-driven approaches, including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning algorithms like graph neural networks and K-nearest neighbors, to enhance diagnosis, referral processes, and resource allocation, particularly in underserved populations. These advancements aim to improve diagnostic accuracy for conditions like depression and glaucoma, optimize patient pathways through better referral mechanisms, and address challenges in data accessibility and analysis using techniques like web scraping and natural language processing of medical notes. Ultimately, this research strives to improve patient outcomes and achieve universal health coverage through more efficient and equitable healthcare systems.
