Projection Fusion

Projection fusion in computer vision aims to improve the accuracy and efficiency of processing 360° images and videos by combining information from multiple projection types, such as equirectangular and icosahedral projections. Current research focuses on developing novel fusion modules, often incorporating attention mechanisms, to effectively integrate features from different projections, addressing challenges like distortion and limited receptive fields. This approach enhances various tasks including depth estimation, semantic segmentation, and optical flow calculation in panoramic imagery, leading to improved performance in applications such as 3D reconstruction, virtual reality, and autonomous systems.
