Pronoun Resolution
Pronoun resolution, a crucial subtask of coreference resolution, aims to identify the referent of pronouns within text. Current research heavily utilizes neural network architectures, such as Bi-LSTMs and Transformer models (e.g., BERT and its variants), often employing end-to-end approaches that jointly model mention detection and antecedent linking, surpassing traditional rule-based and machine learning methods. These advancements are improving performance across various languages, including Arabic and Persian, where dedicated corpora and evaluation metrics are being developed. Successful pronoun resolution significantly enhances natural language understanding capabilities, impacting applications like information extraction, summarization, and machine translation.
