Propaganda Detection
Propaganda detection research aims to automatically identify manipulative communication techniques in text and other media to mitigate the spread of misinformation. Current efforts focus on developing and improving machine learning models, particularly transformer-based architectures like BERT and RoBERTa, often fine-tuned on datasets annotated with various propaganda techniques and incorporating features like discourse structure or genre information. This field is crucial for safeguarding democratic processes and public discourse by providing tools to identify and understand the mechanisms of propaganda, thereby enhancing media literacy and critical thinking.
