Proprioceptive Input
Proprioception, the sense of self-position and movement, is a crucial area of robotics and human-computer interaction research, focusing on how to effectively utilize internal sensory information for control and manipulation. Current research emphasizes developing robust and generalizable algorithms, often leveraging transformer-based architectures and deep learning techniques, to process proprioceptive data from diverse sources, including muscle activity (sonomyography) and joint encoders. This work aims to improve robot locomotion, dexterity, and human-machine interfaces by reducing reliance on external sensors, leading to more adaptable, cost-effective, and safer systems.
