Protective Equipment
Research on protective equipment (PPE) focuses on developing automated systems for real-time detection and verification of proper PPE usage across diverse workplaces, aiming to improve safety and compliance. Current efforts leverage advanced computer vision techniques, particularly object detection models like YOLO and its variants, along with vision-language models, to identify and classify various PPE items, even under challenging conditions like occlusion or poor lighting. These advancements hold significant potential for enhancing workplace safety by providing immediate feedback on PPE compliance, reducing accidents, and improving overall risk management in industries such as construction, manufacturing, and healthcare.
