Protein Degradation
Protein degradation research focuses on understanding and manipulating cellular processes that eliminate unwanted proteins, primarily through the ubiquitin-proteasome system. Current efforts concentrate on developing targeted protein degradation (TPD) therapies, particularly using proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs), with machine learning and generative models increasingly employed for efficient PROTAC design. This field is significant for drug discovery, offering new therapeutic avenues for diseases currently intractable with traditional methods, and also extends to broader image processing applications where degradation modeling and restoration are crucial for accurate analysis.
