Protein Language
"Protein language" research aims to leverage the power of language models to understand and predict protein properties and functions directly from their sequences and structures. Current efforts focus on developing multimodal large language models (LLMs) and specialized protein language models (PLMs), often incorporating graph neural networks and attention mechanisms, to analyze protein data and generate textual descriptions of protein function. This approach promises to accelerate drug discovery, protein engineering, and our overall understanding of biological processes by enabling more efficient analysis of vast protein datasets and bridging the gap between protein sequence/structure and functional annotations.
