Pupil Diameter

Pupil diameter, a readily measurable physiological signal, is increasingly used to infer cognitive and emotional states, offering valuable insights into human behavior. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy of pupil diameter estimation from readily available sources like webcams, employing advanced image upscaling techniques and deep learning models to overcome limitations of low-resolution images. This work is driving the development of more accessible and affordable pupilometry tools, with applications ranging from human-robot interaction and virtual reality to assessing cognitive load and emotional arousal in various contexts. The resulting advancements are enhancing our understanding of human psychology and physiology, and informing the design of more intuitive and responsive technologies.
