Quaternion Domain
The quaternion domain, a mathematical framework extending complex numbers to four dimensions, is increasingly used to represent and process data, particularly rotational information in 3D space. Current research focuses on applying quaternions within machine learning, notably through quaternion-valued neural networks (QCNNs) and algorithms like quaternion backpropagation, often incorporating architectures such as transformers and self-attention modules for improved performance. This work addresses challenges in areas like pose estimation, image processing (denoising, deblurring, completion), and time-series analysis, offering potentially more efficient and accurate solutions compared to traditional methods. The resulting advancements have implications for robotics, computer vision, and signal processing applications.
