Random Participation
Random participation, in various contexts across machine learning and other fields, explores the effects of non-uniform or stochastic data selection and model involvement on overall performance and efficiency. Current research focuses on leveraging randomness in model training (e.g., random weight initialization, random feature selection, random token dropping), data augmentation (e.g., CutMix, random batch updates), and algorithm design (e.g., random walk-based methods, random pairing maximum likelihood estimation) to improve efficiency, robustness, and privacy. These techniques are proving valuable in diverse applications, including recommender systems, medical image analysis, and natural language processing, by addressing challenges like data sparsity, bias, and computational cost.
