Red PANDA
Research on "red panda" (referring to the animal, not the various algorithms with that name) currently focuses on developing unsupervised learning methods for tasks like individual animal re-identification, leveraging techniques like contrastive learning to overcome the limitations of scarce labeled data. These efforts are complemented by biomechanical studies investigating the evolutionary origins of the red panda's "false thumb," using biomimetic models to test hypotheses about its function in arboreal locomotion. This research contributes to both a deeper understanding of animal biology and the development of robust computer vision algorithms applicable to wildlife conservation and other fields.
