Reference Image

Reference images are used in various computer vision tasks to improve the quality and control of image generation and manipulation. Current research focuses on leveraging reference images to enhance image super-resolution, stylization, inpainting, and segmentation, often employing transformer networks, diffusion models, and attention mechanisms to achieve accurate feature extraction and transfer. These advancements are significant because they enable more realistic and controllable image editing, leading to improvements in medical imaging, artistic creation, and other applications requiring high-quality image synthesis and manipulation. Furthermore, research is actively addressing challenges like object confusion in multi-reference scenarios and developing robust evaluation metrics for these techniques.
