Residue Residue Interaction

Residue-residue interactions (RRIs) within and between proteins, and between proteins and nucleic acids, are crucial for understanding protein structure, function, and dynamics. Current research focuses on predicting these interactions using advanced machine learning models, such as graph neural networks and transformer architectures, often incorporating protein language models and data augmentation techniques to improve accuracy, especially in data-scarce scenarios. These predictive models are enhancing our ability to identify functionally important residues and protein-ligand interfaces, with implications for drug discovery and biotechnology. Improved visualization tools are also facilitating the analysis of complex interaction networks.
