Resume Screening

Resume screening, the automated process of evaluating job applications, is increasingly reliant on artificial intelligence, particularly large language models (LLMs). Current research focuses on mitigating biases in these AI systems, which have been shown to disadvantage certain demographic groups based on factors like race, gender, and disability, often replicating existing societal inequalities. This work investigates various approaches, including modifying resume text to remove gendered information and training LLMs on principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, to improve fairness and accuracy. The findings have significant implications for ensuring equitable hiring practices and promoting responsible AI development in the recruitment industry.
