Robot Body
Robot body research focuses on designing and controlling robots with diverse physical forms, aiming to optimize performance in various tasks and environments. Current efforts concentrate on developing adaptive and compliant bodies using soft robotics and hybrid rigid-soft designs, alongside advanced control algorithms like neural networks and control barrier functions to ensure safe human-robot interaction. This research is crucial for improving robot dexterity, safety, and adaptability in complex real-world scenarios, impacting fields ranging from manufacturing and healthcare to exploration and search and rescue. Furthermore, efficient methods for body schema learning and co-evolution of body and control are actively being explored.
