Robotic Ultrasound System
Robotic ultrasound systems aim to improve the consistency, accessibility, and safety of ultrasound examinations by automating or assisting probe manipulation. Current research focuses on developing compliant robotic end-effectors for safe patient interaction, employing techniques like visual servoing and Bayesian optimization with deep kernel methods to optimize image quality and navigation, and utilizing machine learning to learn and adapt scanning skills from expert demonstrations. These advancements hold significant promise for improving diagnostic accuracy, reducing operator dependence, and expanding access to ultrasound in underserved areas, particularly through tele-ultrasound applications.
