Robotic Welding

Robotic welding research focuses on automating and improving the precision and efficiency of welding processes. Current efforts concentrate on developing advanced visual sensing (including active methods and multi-modal approaches using audio and video) and AI-powered defect detection systems, often employing deep learning models for real-time analysis and improved accuracy. These advancements aim to enhance the autonomy and reliability of robotic welding, leading to increased productivity and reduced costs in manufacturing, particularly for complex weld geometries and multiple seam applications. Optimizing robot morphology and base positioning for specific welding tasks is also a key area of investigation to maximize efficiency and avoid collisions.
