Room Reverberation

Room reverberation, the persistence of sound after its source ceases, significantly impacts audio quality and intelligibility, driving research aimed at modeling, enhancing, and removing its effects. Current research focuses on developing robust algorithms and neural network architectures, such as convolutional and recurrent models, and diffusion models, to address reverberation in various applications, including speech enhancement, separation, and source localization. These advancements are crucial for improving the performance of numerous technologies, from hearing aids and speech recognition systems to virtual and augmented reality experiences, by mitigating the negative impacts of reverberation on audio signals.
