Security Constrained Unit Commitment
Security-constrained unit commitment (SCUC) is a crucial optimization problem in power system operation, aiming to determine the most economical and reliable schedule for power generation while satisfying various operational constraints. Current research heavily focuses on accelerating SCUC solutions through machine learning techniques, employing models like graph neural networks, long short-term memory networks, and various Benders decomposition enhancements to reduce computational complexity and improve efficiency. These advancements are significant because faster and more efficient SCUC solutions are essential for reliable and cost-effective operation of increasingly complex power grids with high penetration of renewable energy sources.
