Seismic Facies
Seismic facies analysis aims to classify different rock types within subsurface geological formations based on their seismic signatures, primarily to improve hydrocarbon exploration and reservoir characterization. Current research heavily utilizes deep learning, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs), often employing semi-supervised or active learning techniques to address the challenge of limited labeled training data inherent in 3D seismic datasets. These advancements improve the accuracy and efficiency of facies classification, leading to better geological interpretations and ultimately more informed decision-making in the energy industry.
