Seizure Onset Zone
Precisely locating the seizure onset zone (SOZ) in the brain is crucial for effective epilepsy surgery. Current research focuses on improving SOZ localization using advanced computational methods, including deep learning architectures like CNN Transformers and diffusion models, often integrating these with expert knowledge from functional MRI or electroencephalography (EEG) data analysis. These efforts aim to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of SOZ identification, ultimately leading to improved surgical outcomes and better quality of life for epilepsy patients. The development of less invasive monitoring techniques, such as ear-worn sensors, also contributes to improved patient care.
