Semantic Prior

Semantic priors leverage pre-existing knowledge about the structure and meaning of data to improve the performance of machine learning models, particularly in scenarios with limited training data or complex relationships between inputs and outputs. Current research focuses on integrating semantic priors into various architectures, including neural implicit representations, generative models (e.g., for layout and scene synthesis), and contrastive learning frameworks, often using large pre-trained models like Segment Anything Model (SAM) as a source of prior information. This approach enhances model accuracy and efficiency across diverse applications, such as image restoration, visual grounding, and 3D scene understanding, by guiding the learning process towards more semantically meaningful representations.
