Ship Design
Ship design is undergoing a transformation driven by the application of generative artificial intelligence (AI), aiming to optimize hull design and reduce the lengthy design cycle. Current research focuses on developing and refining generative models, such as diffusion models and generative adversarial networks (GANs), to create diverse and high-performing hull designs while incorporating multiple objectives and constraints. These AI-driven approaches offer significant potential for cost savings in shipbuilding and operation by exploring a wider design space and generating hulls with reduced drag and increased volume, ultimately improving efficiency and effectiveness.
