Shopping assistants are evolving rapidly, leveraging advancements in large language models (LLMs) and multimodal AI to provide increasingly sophisticated e-commerce support. Current research focuses on enhancing conversational abilities, improving product recommendation accuracy through techniques like Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and addressing user needs for both information and personalized guidance. This work is significant for improving the online shopping experience, particularly for diverse user groups including the visually impaired, and for advancing the development of robust and versatile conversational AI systems.
