Sign Spotting

Sign spotting, the task of identifying and locating signs within continuous video streams, is a crucial area of research in sign language processing. Current efforts focus on developing robust models, such as hierarchical architectures based on I3D networks, that can handle the complexities of co-articulated signs and achieve high accuracy in localization and classification. These advancements are improving sign language translation systems, enabling more natural and accurate communication between hearing and deaf communities. Furthermore, research is exploring the application of these techniques beyond sign language, for example, in analyzing visual patterns within historical documents to uncover hidden structures and meaning.
