Single Document Timeline
Single document timeline extraction aims to automatically order events within a single text, creating a chronological representation useful for various natural language processing tasks. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy of timeline extraction from text using techniques like adapting existing temporal graph algorithms and leveraging large language models (LLMs) through different prompting strategies. Challenges remain in handling incomplete or inconsistent temporal information, and ongoing work explores better evaluation metrics and datasets to benchmark progress, ultimately aiming to improve information retrieval and summarization from textual sources.
