Single-image analysis focuses on extracting rich information and generating diverse outputs from a single 2D image, aiming to overcome the limitations of traditional multi-view approaches. Current research heavily utilizes deep learning, particularly generative adversarial networks (GANs) and diffusion models, often coupled with novel scene representations like Gaussian splatting and implicit functions, to reconstruct 3D models, estimate poses, and perform tasks such as relighting and material transfer. This field is significant for its potential to revolutionize various applications, including 3D modeling, virtual and augmented reality, robotics, and medical imaging, by enabling efficient and accurate 3D reconstruction and manipulation from readily available single images.
