Single Photon LiDAR
Single-photon LiDAR uses light detection and ranging with single-photon sensitivity to create high-resolution 3D images, aiming to overcome limitations of conventional LiDAR in low-light conditions and long-range sensing. Current research focuses on improving depth estimation accuracy through advanced signal processing algorithms like rank-ordered mean filtering and Bayesian deep unrolling, as well as enhancing 3D reconstruction capabilities using neural networks such as NeRFs and convolutional neural networks, even from limited viewpoints or non-line-of-sight observations. These advancements are significant for applications like autonomous navigation, robotics, and 3D imaging, offering improved scene understanding and object detection in challenging environments.
