Smart Helmet
Smart helmets are evolving beyond passive protection, incorporating advanced sensors and AI to enhance safety and provide valuable data in various contexts. Current research focuses on improving localization accuracy using IMU data and neural networks like LSTMs and Transformers, as well as developing robust object detection and classification systems for applications such as helmet-wearing status monitoring and worker safety. These advancements leverage computer vision, YOLO-based models, and vision-language models like OWLv2, with a growing emphasis on edge computing for real-time processing. The resulting technologies have significant implications for occupational safety, healthcare monitoring (particularly for vulnerable populations), and sports injury analysis.
