Social Conversation
Social conversation research aims to understand and model the complexities of human interaction, focusing on how social norms, emotional expression, and conversational agendas shape communication. Current research employs machine learning models, including BERT-based architectures and novel approaches like step-by-step dialogue paradigms, to analyze large corpora of online and in-person conversations, extracting insights into influence, emotional dynamics, and the role of context in maintaining coherent discourse. These advancements improve our understanding of human communication, with applications ranging from building more natural and empathetic chatbots to enhancing social science research on persuasion and influence.
