Social Cue
Social cues, nonverbal signals conveying information in human interaction, are a focus of current research aiming to improve human-robot interaction (HRI) and understand human biases. Researchers utilize machine learning, particularly deep learning models and information-theoretic measures like transfer entropy, to automatically detect and analyze these cues from various modalities (e.g., gaze, facial expressions, speech). This work is significant for enhancing the social intelligence of robots, improving healthcare equity by detecting implicit bias in clinical settings, and furthering our understanding of human social dynamics.
