Social Identity
Social identity research explores how individuals' sense of belonging to groups shapes their thoughts, behaviors, and interactions. Current research focuses on understanding how social identity influences biases in artificial intelligence, particularly in large language models and data annotation processes, revealing how algorithmic biases can reflect and even amplify existing societal inequalities. This work highlights the crucial role of social identity in shaping online interactions, including the spread of misinformation and the design of social robots, with implications for developing more equitable and ethical AI systems and understanding human behavior in digital spaces. Ultimately, this research aims to improve our understanding of social dynamics and inform the design of technology that mitigates harmful biases.
