Social Movement
Social movements are studied to understand their formation, persistence, and impact, with a current research focus on how online platforms shape their narratives and dynamics. Researchers employ agent-based modeling, often incorporating large language models and other machine learning techniques, to simulate movement behavior, predict outcomes, and analyze the spread of information and influence. This work has implications for understanding social change, informing policy interventions, and improving the design of online spaces to promote constructive dialogue and mitigate harmful effects.
